13 DAYS BEST OF UGANDA SAFARI

 

This 13 days safari which starts from Entebbe and ends in Entebbe.  The safari starts with Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, Murchison Falls., Track the fast moving and elusive chimpanzees in Kibale Forest.  game viewing on the savannah plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park - elephant, lion, buffalo, hippo, and leopard. See the rich wildlife and array of birds on the Kazinga Channel. In Ishasha go on the hunt for the tree-climbing lions lounging on old fig trees. Seeing some of the last remaining 700 mountain gorillas in the world is a fantastic experience.

Day One - ­ENTEBBE - KAMPALA (37 KMS) (DRIVE TIME: APPROX. 45 MIN - 1 HOUR)

Meet and greet at Entebbe International Airport by a Guide who will warmly welcome you and facilitate seamless arrival formalities.  After a short transfer to your hotel (45min – 1 hour drive) you will be briefed about you safari. Depending on the time of arrival you are advised to have money Changed this day /guide. Overnight at either Lake Victoria  Serena Resort for up market  accommodation or Cassia Lodge for  Medium range accommodation, or Namirembe Guest House for Low budget accommodation.  BB

Day Two - KAMPALA - MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK (311 KMS) (Time DRIVE: APPROX. 6-7 HOURS)

 

imageEarly morning begin the panoramic drive to Murchison Falls National park via the  Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary.  Drive  to  Masindi Town for lunch and later drive  to Murchison Falls National Park. Time  allowing visit the top of the fallsOvernight at either Paraa Safari Lodge (www.paraalodge.Com)  for up market  accommodation, Sambiya River Lodge for medium range accommodation, or Red Chili Rest Camp for Low budget accommodation. Day Three - MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK

Early morning game drive on the northern bank of the River Nile.  Your guide will help you spot elephant, lion, cape buffalo, Roth child’s giraffe, hartebeest, waterbuck, oribi, bushbuck, bohor reed buck, hyena and if you are lucky, the leopard.  After lunch, go for a boat safari upstream the calm Victoria Nile to the base of the falls stopping just few of meters from the ‘Devil’s Cauldron’, marvel at the toothsome hippos, home of  crocodiles and over the 17km stretch you may see elephant, waterbuck and Uganda Kob. This is also the zone of many birds, species like goliath heron, Egyptian goose, pelican bee-eater, kingfisher, hornbill, cormorant and the rare shoebill stork.  After taking shorts of the photogenic Murchison Falls, return to your Lodge. Overnight at either Paraa Safari Lodge for up market accommodation, Sambiya River Lodge  for medium range accommodation, or Red Chili Rest Camp for Low budget accommodation. FB 

Day Four - MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK - KIBALE FOREST NATIONAL PARK (441) KMS

After your morning breakfast drive south via Hoima to Fort Portal through verdant countryside and pass traditional homesteads and farms. Fort Portal rests in the shadow of the fabled Mountains of the Moon.  The drive takes approximately 8 hours. Overnight at either Primate Lodge (www.ugandalodges.com) for up market accommodation, or Mountains of the Moon Hotel for mid range accommodation or Rwenzori View Guest House for Low budget accommodation. Day Five - KIBALE FOREST NATIONAL PARK

imageAfter breakfast we visit Kibale Forest National Park, which is reputed to have the greatest variety and highest concentration of primates in East Africa. The most famous of its 13 species is the Chimpanzee, our closest relative. Kibale 1450 Chimpanzee represent Uganda’s largest population of this endangered primate. Kibale is also a home to the rare I’Hoest’s monkey. Other primates include the black and white Colobus, Blue monkey, Grey cheeked mangabey, Red tailed monkey, Olive baboon to mention but a few. So you will enjoy a guided nature walk in the tropical rainforest in search of the wild chimpanzees, red-tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys and many others. After lunch go for Bigodi swamp walk. Day Six - KIBALE FOREST NATIONAL PARK -­ QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONALPARK (157) KMS

After your morning breakfast, you will proceed to Queen Elizabeth National Park following the mystical Rwenzori Mountain Range. As you go through the game park you might spot some animals. After lunch enjoy the unique 2-hour boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel into Lake Edward. This trip passes through possibly the highest concentration of hippos.  This launch/cruise offers and excellent platform for photography, bird watching and game viewing.  The prolific bird life is colorful and stupendous, with well over 550 resident species. Overnight at either Kyambura Lodge for up market accommodation, or Ihamba Lodge for medium range or Albertine Rift Safari Camps for Low budget accommodation. Day Seven - QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK

Queen Elizabeth National Park¹s diverse eco-system of grassy plains, tropical forest, rivers, swamps, lakes and volcanic craters is home to an incredible abundance of wildlife.  Have an early morning Game drive where you have an opportunity to view the massive Rwenzori as backdrop, which provides excellent opportunities to see lion, leopard, giant forest hog, Cape buffalo, elephant, defassa waterbuck, Uganda Kob, topi and bushbuck. Later transfer to Ishasha sector where you will go for  another game drive in the evening in search of tree climbing lions. Over night at either Ishasha Wilderness Camp  for up market accommodation or Savannah Resort Hotel   for medium range accommodation. FB

Day Eight - QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK - BWINDI IMPENETRABLE NATIONALPARK (150KMS)

Drive through the Switzerland of Africa area known as the Kigezi Highlands
with its terraced hillside and winding roads to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.  Overnight at Gorilla Safari Lodge for up market accommodation, or Kisoro Travelers Hotel for Mid range accommodation. FB

Day Nine - BWINDI IMPENETRABLE NATIONAL PARK

Early morning entry into the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest the rainforest is spectacular, It offers a dramatic, steeply forested landscape and is incredibly dense, but crisscrossed by numerous animal¹s trails allowing access to tourists.   Mammals recorded include the endangered Mt Gorilla, rare golden monkey, buffalo, elephant, black-fronted duiker, bushbuck, leopard, giant forest hog and others.  This park is best known for the fascinating gorillas. The thrill of spending time and observing the gorillas is a rare moving, awesome and exciting adventure. There is always a ranger guide to interpret the Fauna and the Flora. The gorilla is a shy and peaceful animal and it is an unforgettable experience to watch and photograph them as they interact the others that are not going Gorilla tracking will have community walk to observe traditional. Day Ten - BWINDI IMPENETRABLE NATIONAL PARK

You may go for another gorilla trekking on payment of supplement or visit our community projects around the lodge or go for the Batwa Community Trail. Overnight at Gorilla Safari Lodge for up market accommodation, or Kisoro Travelers Hotel for Mid range accommodation. FB

Day Eleven - BWINDI IMPENETRABLE NATIONAL PARK - LAKE MBURO NATIONAL PARK  (279 KMS )

After breakfast transfer to Lake Mburo National Park, have a game drive as you enter the park. After lunch go for an evening boat cruise on L. Mburo and get quite close to the croc and hippos. Over night at either Mihingo lodge for up market accommodation , or  Mburo Safari Lodge for medium range accommodation or UWA Bandas for Low budget accommodation. FB

Day Twelve - LAKE MBURO  - KAMPALA

After breakfast, Leisurely drive back to Kampala, have a stop over at the Equator where you will have an opportunity to stand in 2 hemispheres at the same time and take some photos, then another stop over at the Mpigi Royal Drum Makers where you will be able to watch the ceremonial drums being crafted using methods passed down through the generations arriving in the afternoon. Overnight at either Lake Victoria  Serena Resort for up market  accommodation or Cassia Lodge for  Medium range accommodation, or Namirembe Guest House for Low budget accommodation.  BB

Day Thirteen - DEPARTURE

Depending on the departure time you may go for the following excursions on payment of a supplement: Half day white water Rafting on River Nile, half day trip to Ngamba Island in L. Victoria to see the orphaned chimpanzees or city tour. Transfer to the airport according to your flight time.
